Huawei Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition: Lower Price, Downgraded CPU
Huawei recently unveiled the Mate 70 Pro Premium Edition, a new version of its flagship Mate 70 Pro. Surprisingly, this "Premium" edition features a downgraded, underclocked CPU compared to the original Mate 70 Pro. While this might impact performance, it could also improve power efficiency.
Despite the name and the inclusion of 12GB of RAM, the Premium Edition boasts a lower price tag than the standard model. It will be available in China starting March 5th in Green, Purple, White, and Black, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB.
Performance and Specs
Benchmark results reveal a significantly lower performance score for the Premium Edition, comparable to mid-range devices. This contrasts with the standard Mate 70 Pro, which features the powerful Kirin 9020 chipset. For more on powerful upgrades, see the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The Premium Edition retains other key features, including a 6.9-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a triple rear camera setup (50MP main, 40MP ultra-wide, and 48MP macro telephoto), and a 5,500 mAh battery with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging. The lower price point, despite the "Premium" label, might attract buyers seeking a more affordable Huawei flagship. However, the performance trade-off raises questions about the target audience. For insights into other Android devices, explore 8 Years of Android Updates for Snapdragon Devices.
